I own and operate the cost model, which needs continuous development and improvement, to meet the consistently changing landscape of requirements and challenges from the project.”

Finance Manager

Techmodal is a Technology, Analytics and Consulting business based in the heart of Bristol. As one of the leading providers of data–driven decision support to our clients we work across the government sector and industry and specialise in Supply Chain, Engineering Support and Finance solutions. Over the last 5 years we have grown at over 30% a year and are now a team of just under 100 and are about to move into new premises in Queen Square.

We provide clients with a range of capability from bespoke software development, through complex modelling and analytics to bid support and operating model design and implementation. Our tools underpin key processes in the UK armed forces and we provide analytical assurance on some of UK PLC's biggest investment decisions.

Role in brief:

The Finance Manager reports to the Board on all matters relating to the financial position of the business. They take responsibility for the end to end P&L and overall budgetary information. They will do so through the effective management of financial information and their ability to lead and inspire others in Techmodal to increase the revenue and profit across the business. The primary measures of the Finance Manager’s success are:

  • Efficient management of the budget and balance sheet on behalf of the Board
  • Provision of timely reporting on the financial position of Techmodal to the Board
  • Delivery of sound financial processes and associated governance
  • Reporting on the growth of the business in terms of Revenue and Profit

Reporting to: Chief Operations Officer, the Finance Manager will report financial performance to the Board and will monitor the overall financial position of the Company

Responsible for:

  • The Finance Manager is responsible for reporting key financial data to the Board.
  • This role has full responsibility for the end-to-end P&L, Balance sheet, budgets and forecasts and all associated governance and processes.
  • This is a key role in the business, which has a significant part to play in delivering the business, financial and operational results and in setting stretching but achievable forecasts and budget.
  • The Finance Manager will be responsible for providing valuable insight across the monthly results, as well as consolidating and reviewing forecasts and analysing trends to drive action and decision making for the Board.
  • They will regularly influence senior management thinking and develop commercially sound solutions that influence business results. They will be comfortable influencing strategy and be able to translate it into actionable activities.
  • To continually drive quality improvement, efficiency, and thereby cost reduction against all of the business functions.
  • Managing the work, performance and professional development of finance team members.
  • Leading and inspiring those outside of the core team to promote the Techmodal image and values.

You will have:

  • CIMA strategic level qualified.
  • Chartered Global Management Accountant qualified desirable.
  • Finance Manager experience within the Technology sector.
  • A commercial mind-set that is focused on delivering Profit.
  • The ability to plan and develop strategy at a senior level.
  • A persuasive and confident approach and excellent communication skills.
  • A significant level of numeracy.
  • Effective team management capabilities.
